People and Places: Documentary Research

                                                                         Research

I felt that an ordinary style, such as a reflexive or performative documentary would not be one that I would lead towards making.

So I began searching up poetic documentaries such as The Trail of Happiness by Dawood Murad,

VIRUS (2020) - A COVID-19 Documentary Short by Jack O'Donoghue.

In terms of influence, VIRUS inspired me the most for its colour grading and still shots of empty buildings, while The Trail of Happiness kind of helped me decide that I would definitely try aiming for a much looser narrative while not diminishing the story completely.

Although all the information I had was from my family, I still tried to do some research and was surprised to find mentions of them on some websites.

I searched up videos streets in pre-partition India and see what buildings in Peshawar would be able to  recreate the feeling of that era in the cinematography.
